Industry overview
What is shaping semiconductor
The semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem is expanding, bringing new fabs, design centres and suppliers. Talent, supplier readiness and policy support decide its pace.
- New manufacturing capacity needs a local supplier base
- Design and fab talent is in high demand
- Policy incentives shape investment decisions

Client challenge
Few engineering students considered semiconductor careers, often because they did not know what the jobs involved or which courses led to them. Companies setting up in India also reported difficulty finding graduates with even basic exposure to the field.
Research objectives
- Deliver on the brief: raising awareness of semiconductor careers among students.
- Design around the real needs of students before.
- Set measurable targets and a tracking baseline before launch.
- Improve results through structured testing, reported in plain language.
Target audience
The work focused on 3,000 students before.

Research methodology
A test-and-learn programme: a clear baseline, focused campaigns and weekly optimisation against agreed targets.
- 1Brief
- 2Awareness survey
- 3Campaign
- 4Follow-up survey
- 5Insight
We measured awareness with a baseline survey, created content explaining roles, skills and pathways featuring young engineers, ran targeted campaigns and repeated the survey after six months. Campaigns ran on platforms students actually used, and content was available in English and Hindi, with short videos showing a day in the life of different roles.

Sampling strategy
- students before
- 3,000
- Audiences were defined from the client's customer data and platform targeting, with test and control groups where possible.
Data collection
- Campaign, website and CRM data were tracked daily through analytics and ad platforms.
Data quality & validation
- Conversion tracking tested end to end
- Consistent UTM tagging on every link
- Numbers reconciled between ad platforms and analytics
- Two-person check before anything goes live
Data analysis
- Funnel analysis from impression to lead or sale
- A/B test results on creatives, keywords and pages
- Channel and campaign attribution
Key findings
- Awareness of semiconductor roles and interest in related courses increased among students exposed to the campaign.
Relatable role models made unfamiliar careers feel achievable.
Recommendations
- Build on the core insight: relatable role models made unfamiliar careers feel achievable.
- Keep testing creatives, keywords and landing pages against the new baseline.
Business impact
- Partner colleges reported more students enrolling in related electives, and the initiative extended the campaign to polytechnics for technician roles.
Impact is described qualitatively.
Deliverables & next steps
- Insight report and management presentation
- Cleaned data file and data tables
- Campaign assets and landing pages
- Monthly performance report
- Repeat the measure after changes are in place to track progress.
- A natural follow-on question: how ready is the supplier ecosystem?
